Happy Decorating.....

Well, Happy New Year! (my last post was on Dec 31st!-sorry!) I have been away from blogging for three weeks now, and am happy to be back! When I started a new exercise regimen at the beginning of January, I had no idea it would cut into my blogging time! But it has, and I am working on finding new time slots for all the things I want to do :)

Also, I have been very busy with some home decorating, and want to share some photos with you. Over the month of December, and into January, we converted our garage into two bedrooms. My daughter was so excited to be awarded one of these new rooms, after sharing with her brother for over a year. After all the construction was done, she and I got busy painting....

(Yes, I know it's not my best look......and yes, that's a tea-towel on my head....I didn't want paint in my hair, okay? )  :)

We did the walls in Sahara Sand, and Old Olive :)

Here it is all painted.  And then we waited....and waited......for the trim to get put on, and the paint to cure, and then we moved the furniture in last week.

We were getting so excited to add the finishing touches ...Stampin' Up's Decor Elements wall decor, but we needed to give the new paint at least two weeks to cure before adding those. The order finally came, and we got to it. It turned out great, and I'll share those pics tomorrow.......

Great Pumpkin Hunt

Every year, my mom and dad have this great tradition to include my kids in their "Great Pumpkin Hunt". They spend the summer months growing squash, decorative gourds, pumpkins and decorative corn in their huge garden, to display at Thanksgiving. Then, in October, they gather the kids, a tractor and some barn clothes, and get picking! Here they are enjoying some of their annual "Hunt"....

And here they are enjoying their winnings. They then set all the veggies out, along with fresh picked apples, nuts, and decorative baskets, at the door to greet guests as they arrive for a visit.

My mom and dad have been doing this for years, and we always look forward to seeing how the display changes from year to year. Here's the final product for 2008.....

First Day of School!

Hello! Well, we made it thru the first day of school! Everyone was a little nervous, but after searching for the right rooms, all the kids got settled into their classrooms pretty quickly. School supplies were flying, let me tell you! We love all the teachers our kids got this year, and I am anticipating a fabulous year for all of them! After getting them settled, I thought to myself: Should I go out for coffee, or get some things done? Well, I decided to get some things done (my first mistake!). I took the van in to get the brakes checked, after hearing alot of funny noises last week, to the tune of $800! Yes, they were in bad shape, and now I am depressed! I should've gone for coffee! Oh well, it's too late now. Tomorrow I will know better :)

The kids had only a half day today (as I think most kids in our area did), and were home for lunch. I got to hear lots of news about friends and teachers etc. Isaac is the most excited (he started grade one this year), and was quite worried going in. He did just fine, though, and I got my first crayon-colored picture for the year! I love those!

I was hoping to get some stamping in this morning, but didn't quite get to it, what with the brakes and all! I hope to upload some fantabulous project tomorrow ---I will get to work on designing that!

Have a terrific day!
