Layered Labels
Hello! I wanted to show you a couple of cards I have designed recently using the new Layered Labels Stamp set, and the matching Apothecary Accents Framelits dies.
This is using the new Primrose Petals cardstock, along with Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. I also added some embossing using the new Fancy Fan embossing folder, and some sponging around the edges for a vintage look.
Here's the inside of the card:
Here's another one I made using the new Oval Accents Bigz Die to cut the shape of the card:
I cut the base from Whisper White, making sure to not cut off the card fold. Then I covered that with a layer of Primrose Petals cardstock, cut into the same shape (full). Added layers using Soft Suede and Whisper White, some Jumbo Pearls and some embossing with the new Argyle embossing folder. The centre oval is stamped ontoo Glossy White cardstock, sponged with Frost White Shimmer Paint, and allowed to dry. I stamped the image in Primrose Petals and then brayered over top with Crumb Cake to give a soft, vintage feel. Voila!
Hope you like them!

Merry Christmas!
I am so thankful for all of you, my stamping friends, my clients, and especially my stamp club members who have become dedicated, and loyal friends. I want to take the time to wish you and your family a wonderful Merry Christmas, and a blessed New Year! Thank you for your business, for your creative ideas, and for your inspiration in allowing me to do what I love! Merry Christmas!
Here's an embossed envelope and a matching Christmas card for you!
I used Cherry Cobbler, Very Vanilla and Early Espresso cardstock, Victorian Lace ribbon, Snowflake Punch and the Scallop Edge Border Punch. The Vanilla cardstock was embossed with the Finial Press Embossing Folder and the Big Shot, and then sponged with Early Espresso around the edge. I added some adhesive Rhinestones, and a stamped image from the Word Play stamp set in Artichoke ink, punched out with the Curly Label Punch.
And here's a matching banner that I made for below my fireplace mantle.
I added some letters cut out on the Big Shot, and some Hemp Twine to string it along.
Merry Christmas to each of you, and I wish you a wonderful holiday season!

Raccoon Eyes
Here is another couple of versions of the critters I have been making recently. Isn't this one adorable? We made this as a Make & Take for Big Shot Club recently.
It was inspired by a project from Kimberley Morris, and it used Basic Gray, Black, and Whisper White cardstocks.
And here's one more: this one was created by my 11 year old daughter.
This one used the Top Note Die as well as Chocolate Chip and Pretty In Pink cardstocks.
So cute!
Enjoy making some punch-art critters with your punches!

Watch out for Aliens!
Here are some Aliens made by my boys, after they saw my bunny box (see my previous post).
I am glad I have some boys around to help me make some masculine things! I am not so good at that part! (and yes, those are ABS, drawn on the Tempting Turquiose one :))
These are both made using the Top Note Die, various Circle and Oval Punches from Stampin' Up, and lots of boy germs :) Just kidding.....I love my boys! I think these would be great filled with gummy worms!
Happy Creating!

free punch!
Here's a Valentine card I made last week, using the new FREE Scallop Trim Border punch! (item#118402).
You can get this FREE punch right now when you order $65 worth of products from Stampin Up thru the Sale-A-Bration promotion!
It is made on Pretty in Pink cardstock, with the Tres Chic background stamp (#109258 $23.95). I also used the I {Heart} Hearts stamp set (#117010 $35.95 wood blocks, #118571 $24.95 Clear Blocks) and stamped the hearts in Real Red, and punched them out with the Heart to Heart punch (#113694 $22.95). I noticed it leaves this cute rim of ink around the holes, so I wanted to use this instead of throwing it out!
So, I decided to make windows! This card has 2 peek-a-boo windows which I made with the Wide Oval Punch (#112082 $22.95), and the Heart to Heart punch. After I punched them, I placed a piece of clear packing tape over the opening, with the sticky side up, and sprinkled glitter over top! How much fun is that?!
I finished off the scallop corners with the NEW Scallop Trim Corner Punch (#118870 $13.95). Then I stamped this sentiment (from the FREE stamp set called Whimsical Words, wood block#118386, clear block #119119) in Real Red, on Whisper White cardstock, and punched it with the Wide Oval punch to match the front. Whether you have the card closed or open, you can still read the sentiment!
Hope you like it!

Haitian Relief
I just received this note from Stampin Up, and wanted to pass it along to you....
Haitian Disaster Relief
January 21, 2010
Stampin′ Up! demonstrators have a long history of making a difference in the lives of others--especially when disaster strikes and the need is greatest. So it was not surprising that so many demonstrators have contacted us in the past week asking what the plan is for helping to provide relief for those who continue to suffer from the effects of the earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.
Here is what we are going to do:
From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set purchased will be donated to American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.
Product Name | Item # | Price |
I {Heart} Hearts – clear-mount (block D recommended) | 118571 | $24.95 |
I {Heart} Hearts – wood-mount | 117010 | $35.95 |
This is a simple and straightforward plan; the more stamp sets we sell, the greater the difference you make. Often it is the simplest plans that work best!
To help out with this fundraiser for Haiti, you can place an order online thru my website at www.stampinwithjoann.stampinup.net (click Shop Now) or you can email me at stampinwithjoann@shaw.ca. Stampin' Up will send us a total of money raised at the end of February, and I will share that total with you! Help us make a difference, and you'll enjoy some creativity at the same time!
Here is the "I {Heart} Hearts" stamp set. It also co-ordinates with the Trio Heart Punch!
Place your order today, and help me help Haiti.

Merry Christmas!
Here's a snapshot of the teachers Christmas gifts we made this year for my kids teachers.
I got these pails from a local scrapbook shop, and added designer paper from the Christmas Cocoa set, along with 5/8 Real Red grosgrain ribbon, and Soft Suede polkadot ribbon.
I cut out the circle on top using my Circle Scissors Plus. We also added a Whisper White snowflake using the Snowflake Punch, and a tag made with the Christmas Punch stamp set, Real Red and Soft Suede markers, and punched out with the Scallop Oval Punch.
We popped in some home-baked goodies, and a gift card, and off the kids went to deliver them! I think these pails would make really cute Valentine's gifts too!
Wishing you all a wonderful Merry Christmas!
Thanks for popping by!

Christmas Trees!
I wanted to share with you these Christmas trees I made with my kids recently. We had a great time!
You can see from the bottom view here that I used styrofoam cones from the craft store, and added the paper curls all around.
You just cut double sided paper (I used the retired set called Holiday Thyme) into 1" X 6" strips. (You need about 3 12X12 sheets per tree.) Then, using your Bone Folder, curl one end at a time, as you would with curling ribbon. Leave a flat space in the middle, and put a sewing straight pin thru that area into your styrofoam shape. No glue required!
You can also do this on foam wreath shapes too, but make sure to get the dense foam so the pins don't fall out! This was easy enough for my 7 and 11 year olds to do, but I did help them with the curling part.
Enjoy!

Weekend Retreat pics
Hello, I just wanted to show you some of the fun pics of the ladies enjoying my Stamping Weekend Retreat recently. We had too much fun!
Here are Sharon, Jeanette and Lori stamping away!
Shauna, Barb and Ruth playing with My Big Shot machine.....
Heidi and Ashleigh working on their scrapbooks......
Can you believe I brought ALL my stamp sets and punches and Big Shot paraphenalia?! Oooh, what fun! We also planned a Shoebox Swap for the Saturday afternoon, so that was neat to go around and make other people's projects, and give our minds a little rest :)
The meals were awesome, as usual, and we ate so much, all we could do was sit and STAMP! Imagine how difficult that was! :)
I will be holding another one next year, but I am also hosting a one-day Stamp Event on May 23rd if you'd like to join us this time. It will be 9am-9pm on a Saturday, and will only be $30 including dinner!
Contact me to register......

Scrapbooking for the non-scrapper
For those of you who have been afraid to start scrapbooking, I wanted to share this great article I found in the January issue of Stampin' Success,
a free magazine for Stampin' Up demonstrators. Over the next couple of
blog posts, I will give you some excerpts of this awesome article.
Here's the first scrapbooking myth:
(by Lisa Mabey)
Now, I realize that everyone scrapbooks differently, and that stereotypes
are not universal (thank goodness). However, scrapbooking “rules” still
exist, and they sway some people into believing that scrapbooking is not
for them. But it can be. So let’s debunk a few scrapbooking myths
(in a not-so-silent rebellion) and break free from these so-called rules
that you or your customers may feel bound by.
Myth: Scrapbooking is too overwhelming, so I might as well not even
start.
Truth: I have one word for you: Simplify. Scrapbooking should be fun, inspiring, and a way to tap into your creative energy every time you see scrapbooking supplies (doesn’t seeing a new Designer Series paper make
you want to just create something stunning?). Start simple and take your scrapbooking one page at a time. Having a few meaningful scrapbook
pages completed is a lot better than never scrapbooking because you
think you can never be “done” or don’t know where to start. Here are a
few simple ideas to get you started. 1 Get creative! Take pictures of (and scrapbook) the mundane, everyday stuff you do. Make a “day in the life”
page of your or your kids’ average day so that the page expresses a cross-section of who you are. This would be a perfect introduction to your
album! Think of scrapbooking a favorite memory (instead of broadly focusing on all the photos you’ve taken). What would you need to
capture that memory? Say you go to the park with your children
frequently. Sum up your park visits with one or two well-planned pages
that capture your thoughts, feelings, and the delight your children feel.
Once those pages are complete, you’ll no longer feel compelled to
scrapbook each outing to the park, because the important story and
memories are already recorded. Of course, if something really special happened on your latest trip to the park, feel free to scrapbook the event,
but you’ll be able to move on to other memories and other stories more easily. If you take away the pressure and overwhelming size of
“scrapbooking your whole life,” it can become creative and pleasurable
like it was meant to be. Scrapbooking isn’t a chore—it really is fun!
